  • Abireal Real Estate Directory
The Abi7 Group, being the owners of Abilogic Directory, have launched a global real estate niche directory, Abireal. The directory is organised by region and topical subject, allowing the user to quickly find what their looking for within the specifics of the real estate industry.

  • Best Of The Web (BOTW) Launches Blog Directory
Best Of The Web (BOTW) (http://www.botw.org) have now launched a new Blog directory (http://blogs.botw.org), or Weblog as technically correct naming. The directory structure itself is basically a miniture replica of the BOTW general directory. The major difference between though from the general directory to the blog directory, is that the new blog directory is totally free.

  • Bloggapedia Launched
A new directory for the bloging enthusiast that helps evolve the current trend of general and niche directories, is Bloggapedia.com (http://www.bloggapedia.com). Whilst Bloggapedia is primarily a blog directory, the site also boasts blog news, forum, tools and resources to help the general blogger within the world of weblogs.

  • Brand Search Web Directory Launches
The latest directory on the scene is BrandSearch.org. A completely free directory at present, with future plans to implement paid listings for top positions. Currently whilst the initial building of listings is occuring, the directory remains totally free.

  • Chance URL Rotating Directory
Another new breed of directory was just released, and that is ChanceURL. You start with the funky look imagemap on the homepage, and when you click upon any of the categories from that page, a random site is chosen and delivered.

  • Dramba Web Directory
Dramba web directory is fairly new on the scene of directories, and is powered by the Barracuda directory script, from Boonex. The script utilises Ajax technology to enhance performance for both the user and the editors. The directory itself is quite shallow and empty when writing this, though will no doubt fill quickly enough.

  • Dubai Directory
A new release of a directory network, called Dubai Directory. This is a little bit off a copycat, from the million dollar homepage creation, which is getting quite a smashing across the board, now the directory niche also.

  • Global Markings Directory
Another new face to the directory world is Global Markings. This site is directly tied into the Exactseek network of over 170+ search engines and directories. The site is fairly poorly presented in my opinion, with many spelling and grammatical mistakes throughout the site.

  • Iti.com.au
Iti is a relatively new directory to the Australian market, though one that comes through quite strong and specific for the sector it is targeting. The directory has currently targeted Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Perth businesses at present, and no doubt will expand as the demand for each city increases.

  • Jiwire Wi-Fi Hotspot Directory
Now I thought this was a very interesting use of a directory structure, to list and exploit all Wi-Fi connection points across the globe. Jiwire (http://www.jiwire.com) provide a searchable directory database of over 100,000 global Wi-Fi points, which users may submit their inclusion zones for user search.

  • Live Articles Directory
A new articles directory has recently launched, livearticles.org. Categorization is very broad, with only the a top level category system available, ie. /automotive or /business. Article submission is free, and controlled through your own account. Simply register and submit away.

  • One Best Link Directory
This one I actually picked up from reading searchen.com, and I must say it is a bit different from the usual directory structure. I guess that could be a good, or bad thing. The homepage itself is nothing but a selection of links that the editor has reviewed as a "winning link" and is placed within a unique block on the right hand side, called "all best links". The homepage then contains multiple pages of links... whether they are newly submitted and rotate through, not quite sure.

  • Oxford Business and Financial Directory
Another new player to hit the general web directory circuit, Oxford Business and Financial Directory (http://www.oxfordcredit.com). The directory is free for all general listings, and allocates featured positions for a low fee. I believe the directory design suffers somewhat through the use of their directory script, as it tends to present itself as very busy. The included listings examined seemed to be of an acceptable editorial standard, which means quality isn't being sacrificed. Overall, nothing that great, but most certainly a link for more exposure.

  • Palewise Directory Media Platform Live
It is with great news I have recently launched the new Palewise Media Platform. Whilst categorized like a directory, it is by no means a normal web directory. Instead, we have taken the usual listing style to a broadened full page advertisement, negating the old list and be lost scenario that occurs within general directories.

  • Pro Life Pages Directory
A new concept in web directories has risen, ProLifePages, where ProLife individuals (against abortion) have teamed up and released another means of funding non-profit prolife activities, groups and charities, through ProLifePages.com. The company is a "for profit" LLC, as they didn't meet certain criteria for non-profit status, though the owners have clearly outlined that the business will still be run in a non-profit manner.

  • Search and Go Directory Launched
A new creative directory has now launched from the So-Net team, Search and Go (http://www.searchandgo.com/directory/). S&G have a unique prospective to the directory niche through relevant lead in content within each main category section. This is something that is quite unique within the directory niche, moving away from the standard listing model. The cost is US$39.00 per annum for regular listings, or US$149.00 for express listings which cater more detailed and specific content inclusion. Whilst the S&G directory is now live, this remains only a singular component of the overall Search & Go portal environment.

  • SoNet UK Web Directory
SoNet is launching a new directory in the very near future, that enhances the directory niche with nothing short of excellence in design, application and usability. The owner of SoNet has emphasized usability over all other aspects of the construction, providing a fast loading, navicable and informative directory of websites, unique articles and more.

  • Umdum Web Directory
Another new Web directory to hit the scene, this time by Loren Baker of Search Engine Journal, called Umdum (http://www.umdum.com).

  • URL Direct Australian Web Directory
A member from the SEO Forum, "URL Direct", has just launched a new Australian directory into the marketplace, called URL Direct. From first impression, the site is very well done, great design, and nice on the eye. The site is navicable, which means even the least web savvy person can find their way around it, which is the end result in all honesty. The directory only lists Australian websites, so please take note of that one.

  • Web 2.0 Directory
I guess it was only a matter of time before this coin phrase was used for a directory, and here it is, 2.0 directory, a directory of Web 2.0 initiatives.
